We kick off the New Year with a discussion about women in media - and just how horrendously underrepresented we are. Based on Kira Cochrane’s research for The Guardian which was published at the end of year, we went straight to the horses mouth and invited Kira to the Betsey Trotwood pub in east London to break it all down. It’s doom and gloom stats-wise BUT there is hope for women in radio especially with the launch of Sound Women in 2011. We catch up with journalist and broadcaster Miranda Sawyer who tells us why it needs to exist and what it aims to achieve. Then we have musical tips for 2012 from The Girls Are editor Annette Barlow and of course Stef Schadenfreude has a rant about all the showbiz trash that’s rocking her world. Join us and please subscribe in iTunes! Jude couldn’t join us at the Betsey Trotwood pub in east London (our temporary new home) but we recorded a Bride To Be spot a few weeks ago, where she goes on a rant about not changing her name! <itunes:summary>Not the usual girlie sh*t! This week Piney Gir and Ruth Barnes are joined by electronic music pioneer ( Add N To X/ Large Number) turned label boss Ann Shenton, with live music from her stable courtesy of Leeds duo The Horn The Hunt (NOT Witch House!). Jude Rogers has had a manic few weeks, what with appearing on Radio 2 with Radcliffe and Maconie (yessir!) and interviewing Suede for the Guardian. Jude couldn't join us at the Betsey Trotwood pub in east London (our temporary new home) but we recorded a Bride To Be spot a few weeks ago, where she goes on a rant about not changing her name! Go Jude! We have the first of The Other Woman's public service announcements in the form of Emma Brammer talking (or rather knitting) us through Woolly Hat Day - in conversation with Tony Soprano! Who would have thought the man was into his arts 'n crafts?! Our Girls About Town are from the Central St Martin's School of Art and the University of Wales, they're putting on a photographic exhibition called Wound in November - more details below:

The Horn The Hunt:

The Horn The Hunt are a Leeds based duo, comprising of Clare Carter and Joseph Osborne. They are signed to Ann Shenton and Marc Hunter's White Label Music and their single Raptor has it's launch party on the 18 November at the Silver Bullet pop up club in Finsbury Park.
