This is a very special podcast. With 5 movers and shakers from the music publishing world we talk SYNC. What is it? How do you make money from your songs in this way? What's the best way to approach libraries and publishers and advertisers and marketers and...? All the questions answered in one easy half hour session - it's not easy, but if you play your cards right you just might make it happen. We welcome Tracy Murray (Spirit Music, expert in pitching existing music), Carla Tully (BMG/Chrysalis, expert in band/ brand association), Laura Harrison (Soho Music, expert in pitching specially composed music), Amy Ashworth (expert in placing music in film and television) and there's Piney Gir too who has been there and done that. Hosted by Ruth Barnes, who sounds a little like she's in a tin can, we're not sure what happened there! Here's the link to the LA Sync Mission that Amy mentions. Join us and subscribe in iTunes!

We gather at Ruth Barnes' tiny Hackney flat for this pod, minus two very important members of the team. Piney Gir had an Actionettes rehearsal she couldn't possibly miss and Stef Schadenfreude couldn't be with us because the showbiz she does as a living got in the way. She does however deliver one final rant as from now on she's ditching showbiz! Big news! Jude Rogers and Ruth Barnes are joined by broadcaster Kath Melandri (host of The Mostess) and Geordie via Pakistan/ Norway gloom-pop piano chanteuse Nadine Shah to talk Thatcher, our Lost Dame Heather Jones and more... join us and subscribe in iTunes if you like it!

This month we welcome Charlotte Hatherley to the Pod. You may know her as the former guitarist with indie favourites Ash, or for her solo work or as recent incarnation Sylver Tongue. The guitar wielding ace has turned to synthesisers as her latest muse, but never fear, there are riffs in there too. Plus embarrassing moment's meeting idols - in Charlotte's case David Bowie, in Ruth Barnes' case Germaine Greer and for Piney Gir it's Bonnie Prince Billy. There's also a story about Green Gartside and pooh, plus Mick Jagger's scrotum gets a mention...! Jude Rogers raves about Kraftwerk, Stef Schadenfreude has the showbiz and we welcome Girl About Town Emily Scoggins for gig reviews. Oh, and Piney and Ruth meet awesome performer and presenter Amy Lame to talk about Burger Queen, the beauty contest for chubsters and so much more! Join us and subscribe in iTunes.

Hello! *coughs, embarrassed* Yes, it's been 5 months but that doesn't mean we haven't been thinking about you! It's been a hectic few months what with Piney Gir touring the USA and Ruth Barnes starting the Breakfast show on Amazing Radio, but boy have we missed the podcast. We promise to bring you a monthly instalment from now on in. We start 2013 with a look at how we feel about this year that has no logo, no t-shirt and no marketing campaign - liberating or despondent? Journalist Jude Rogers celebrates Lost Musical Dame Shannon, Stef Schadenfruede has a not-to-be-missed showbiz rant and we welcome an honorary Pod member Jeannette Leech, psych folk aficionado and author, to talk about her new blog A Tale of 2 Readers - a book a week! Quite a challenge. We celebrate the domination of women in pop music in 2013 and say: At long last! Join us for a sometimes sweary but we guarantee always entertaining discussion and more ginger biscuits than you can shake a stick at. If you like, subscribe to us in iTunes.

What a few weeks it's been in London town! We began our Olympic journey hating the hype, impending total disruption to our daily lives and Boris Johnson. Now in this limbo between the Olympics and the Paralympics, we meet to discuss how we still hate Boris Johnson - BUT there are now varying views about The Games. Cate Sevilla joins us from Bitch Buzz Magazine to discuss the backlash from both men and women to an innocently sent tweet celebrating how well women athletes were doing. Stef Schadenfruede still isn't bothered about the whole affair but does bring us a hefty dose of Showbiz news in her own inimitable style. Journalist Jude Rogers has Lost Dames for us in the shape of lost cinema organists of the 1920's and 1930's... Doreen Chadwick and Betty Mitchell. Piney Gir and Ruth Barnes are along for the ride, pondering why there aren't men in sparkly Speedo's participating in the synchronised swimming?!

Welcome to the first of The Other Woman Shorts! We've had some complaints from fans (erm, well one actually) that we don't put out TOW Pod often enough. That's because we're all super busy and it's hard to all get together. The solution is that yours truly Ruth Barnes, will meet journalist Jude Rogers, our celeb newshound Stef Schadenfreude and/ or co-host Piney Gir every fortnight to record a mini version of what we normally do. So more of us, more often! In this mini slice of TOW, Jude Rogers bemoans the loss of Word Magazine as announced in the last week AND we celebrate Lost Musical Dame - Sheila. Sheila is massive as a bubblegum pop star in France but is best known to you probably as part of Chic Productions. Teaming up with the legend that is Nile Rodgers she produced a killer disco hit, you'll know it when you hear it. Enjoy!

The Other Woman Podcast hits episode 15! That means we’re struggling with an outbreak of acne, feeling too big for our own skin and our school uniform doesn’t fit anymore - you can find us mostly snacking on peanut butter and honey on toast or watching Bieber videos on youtube and posting abusive comments!!

Ruth Barnes hosts this pod which the has been recorded all over the place: Piney Gir’s front room where we met Amy May from Paris Motel who’s recorded some NOT live session tracks for your ears... The Book Club in Shoreditch where I met our Girl About Town Cate Sevilla the super stylish editor of honest women’s magazine Bitch Buzz... and of course The Betsey Trotwood pub where we met Carina Tillson, board member of Sound Women to catch up on how the campaign to get more women heard on and working in radio is going... And of course, none other than Stef Schadenfreude, our showbiz newshound with a chip on her shoulder, has a showbiz rant for your listening pleasure.

The podcast is on location for Episode 14, we've decamped to the 'shabby chic' confines of Ms Marmite Lover's pantry - she's Kerstin Rodgers, the tiny dynamo of a woman who was responsible for London's first pop up supper club in her lounge. We eat marmite on Aga-fresh sourdough toast and talk food politics, guerrilla eating, chubby-chasers and more. 18 year old Sienna Rodgers joins the chat too, aspiring blogger, politician and feminist that she is.  Journalist Jude Rogers bring us a Lost Dame in the shape of Clara Rockmore, the original theremin muse and master - Piney Gir knows who she is but if like me, you're in the dark, have a listen and you'll learn something! Julia Muth is the lead singer and guitarist from rockers The Sharp Tongues who're quietly making their mark on the London live circuit. We talk gold guitars, dating your bandmates and ditching Ontario for London - it was a good move. Join us and don't forget you can subscribe to us in iTunes!

Our second podcast of 2012 and we're thrilled to welcome Amy Lamé. Amy is a performer, radio and TV presenter, fellow podcaster (check out Homolab) feminist and former Mayoress of Camden.... amongst about a million other things, including co-founder of one of London's foremost gay club nights Duckie. We talk: 20 years in London for this New Jersey girl, founding Duckie, gay politics in the media and general misogyny in gay culture PLUS fat politics and how you can support fat people without being fat! It's a state of mind, as Amy says: 'Fat people aren't going anywhere!' We also chat about Amy's new one woman show, Unhappy Birthday, which you can see more info about here. One woman's obsession with Morrissey and having a birthday on the crappest day of the year: 3 January! Urgh! We also have a Lost Dame from journalist Jude Rogers in the shape of Kim Wilde and Stef Schadenfreude gets her teeth into the Brits and the Oscars... tasty! Ruth Barnes and Piney Gir convene in PG's wee flat in north London to string it all together. Magic! Don't forget to like us on Facebook and subscribe to us in iTunes if you will!

We kick off the New Year with a discussion about women in media - and just how horrendously underrepresented we are. Based on Kira Cochrane's research for The Guardian which was published at the end of year, we went straight to the horses mouth and invited Kira to the Betsey Trotwood pub in east London to break it all down. It's doom and gloom stats-wise BUT there is hope for women in radio especially with the launch of Sound Women in 2011. We catch  up with journalist and broadcaster Miranda Sawyer who tells us why it needs to exist and what it aims to achieve. Then we have musical tips for 2012 from The Girls Are editor Annette Barlow and of course Stef Schadenfreude has a rant about all the showbiz trash that's rocking her world. Join us and please subscribe in iTunes! Happy New Year!
